In just six years of professional experience, Alejandro Martinez has already become a force to be reckoned with in the Austin legal community. Mr. Martinez is the founder of the Law Office of Alejandro Martinez, where he focuses on criminal defense and represents a diverse clientele who have been accused of crimes ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. For his zealous representation of each and every one of his clients, Mr. Martinez has been awarded the Avvo ‘Clients' Choice’ award.
As he recalls, Mr. Martinez has always had the drive to succeed. This trait paired with his desire to make a positive impact on others’ lives made law a fitting career. After graduating with his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2012, Mr. Martinez accepted a position with the Dallas City Attorney’s Office and then the Williamson County Attorney's Office. There, he gained valuable insight into prosecution strategies and developed his impressive courtroom skills. However, it wasn’t until several years after he graduated from law school that Mr. Martinez realized criminal defense better suited his goals:
I wanted to make an impact on society, and help people. I worked for the prosecution side for five years before breaking off and building my own defense practice. As it turned out, I love criminal defense—it’s helping people in a different way. I’ve found it very rewarding to be able to help people during their time of need.
Since founding the Law Office of Alejandro Martinez in 2017, Mr. Martinez has solidified his reputation as a criminal attorney who clients can trust to advocate for their rights and their best interests. With a firm belief that everyone deserves a vigorous and aggressive defense, Mr. Martinez uses the full breadth of his experience on the prosecution side of the courtroom, combined with his formidable litigation skills, to protect the rights of his clients and defend them against a wide variety of criminal charges.
To continue providing the industry-leading representation for which Mr. Martinez has already become so well-known, he maintains active involvement in prestigious professional organizations, including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Austin Young Lawyers Association, and the Williamson County Bar Association. These memberships, along with his own relentless pursuit of new information and knowledge, allows Mr. Martinez to serve his clients to the best of his ability. He notes:
The transition from a prosecutor to a defense attorney has been a big change. The substantive law is the same, but there are most definitely nuances which arise particular to criminal defense. For example, you get to know your clients on a much more personal level. Each case is of the utmost importance to every client—they all have their own issues and concerns which influence how their case needs to be handled.
Still at the outset of what is sure to be an extremely illustrious career, Mr. Martinez shows no signs of slowing down. He plans to expand his firm over the next several years, with the intention of providing stellar criminal defense services across the Austin metropolitan area.
When he isn’t working, Mr. Martinez loves to play basketball, and spend time with his family, his friends, and his dog.
