Daniel Romano is a distinguished attorney practicing with Kalman Samuels, Q.C. & Associates, one of Canada’s most prestigious law firms focusing on international family law and civil litigation. Based in Montreal, Québec, Mr. Romano and his associates at Kalman Samuels are widely renowned for their specialty in international family law and serve clients across the globe.
With a double law degree from McGill University and fluency in several languages, international family law was a natural choice for Mr. Romano. Before going into the field, he had a thriving career in business. But as he recalls, his desire to help people ultimately compelled him to change direction:
After graduating law school, I went into business and was really enjoying it, but I kept seeing political issues that I wanted to solve and get involved with. So my brother and I founded C.A.G.E., Citizens Against Government Encroachment, a grassroots organization dealing with politics, because we both had a desire to help people out. Through C.A.G.E., we kept meeting lawyers practicing international family law, and I realized that it was a great way to help people. I decided to move my practice to Montreal. I passed the Québec bar in 2007, and I haven’t looked back since.
Renowned across the world for their work in international family law, Kalman Samuels was a perfect fit for Mr. Romano. The award-winning Montreal firm practices family law on a provincial, interprovincial, and international level. With corresponding offices throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, many of Kalman Samuels’ cases involve clients living in different countries, and their cross-border expertise works heavily to their clients' advantage.
Mr. Romano and the firm’s other nine attorneys possess extensive experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce, separation, child custody, child and spousal support, and child abduction. From simpler cases with average families to the highly complex disputes involving professional athletes and partition of substantial assets, Kalman Samuels affords each of its clients specialized and personal attention.
Among other areas, the firm places a particular emphasis on elder law. As baby-boomers age, the issues of elder care and the need to protect the rights of seniors is an important concern in today’s society, and Kalman Samuels is more than equipped to meet those needs. The rights of all persons under the law are one of the firm’s most robust specialties, and the firm’s attorneys pursue cases involving tutorship, guardianship, commitment, and declarations of incapacity.
Keeping their fingers on the pulse of these changes in family law, Mr. Romano and his colleagues at Kalman Samuels are able to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a competitive edge over others in the field. Through the industry-leading expertise of its attorneys, Kalman Samuels has experienced rapid growth in recent years. To accommodate its burgeoning clientele, the firm will soon be moving locations from downtown Montreal to a larger office in Westmount.
