Fred A. DeCicco is a distinguished commercial real estate lawyer based in New York City who has been practicing for over thirty years. A Martindale-Hubbell® AV® Preeminent™ peer-rated lawyer, Mr. DeCicco is partner and head of the real estate/commercial law department of Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, where he represents clients in a wide range of real estate matters from commercial leasing and purchases to acquisition, financing of buildings, and syndication of properties. With offices in Manhattan and Westchester County, Mr. DeCicco and his firm represent clients throughout the five boroughs and the surrounding counties.
Mr. DeCicco developed a passion for the law when his family had a negative experience with their lawyer while he was in college. As he tells it:
I was inspired to become a lawyer when I was in college. My parents had a legal problem and when we went to visit a lawyer, I felt he was arrogant and disinterested. I remember leaving that meeting saying to myself, I'm going to do this and I'm going to do it the right way. I'm going to take care of the people that need help. It really left an impression on me and that was a huge reason why I went to law school.
Mr. DeCicco graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science from New York University before pursuing his J.D. at Fordham Law School, where he was selected to be an associate editor of the Fordham Law Review. Upon completing his degree, Mr. DeCicco accepted a position as an associate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. During his time there, he worked on major domestic and international transactions including the Exxon-Mobile merger, the syndication of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, and the bulk sale of Montgomery Ward retail locations throughout the United States.
Mr. DeCicco joined Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP in 1989, and has since proven his prowess in all aspects of commercial and real estate law, including commercial and office leasing, business acquisitions and investments, partnership agreements, joint ventures, and other business contracts. Admitted to practice law in both New York state and the state of New Jersey, Mr. DeCicco has over the years skillfully represented co-ops and condo boards, developers, and owners of major office and commercial buildings in the New York metropolitan area.
A respected attorney, Mr. DeCicco attributes his standing in the legal community on his decision to focus on particular areas of law. In his words:
You can only be good at this job if you concentrate on certain areas and become experienced with all of the issues that can arise. There aren't a lot of issues that I haven't seen multiple times and resolved multiple times. And I think that's important. Over time I've focused on a few areas of the law that have given me the expertise needed to protect my clients.
With over three decades of experience to draw from, Mr. DeCicco is committed to providing an unparalleled level of attention and expertise to his valued clients. Moving forward, he plans to concentrate on expanding his firm’s commercial litigation practice. As his department continues its steady growth, Mr. DeCicco is determined to maintain close relationships with his clients and the highest level of quality representation. When he’s not working, Mr. DeCicco enjoys skiing, playing tennis, and staying physically and mentally fit in order to handle the demands of his profession.
