With more than forty years of experience in the industry, Gloria Howell is a leading real estate broker for the city of Pocatello, the largest city and seat of southeastern Idaho’s Bannock County. Gloria is currently the leader of the Gloria Howell Team, a division of Gate City Real Estate, where she has spent over twenty-four years of her entire real estate career. There, she and her assistant, Angela Guerrero, focus on the buying and selling of residential properties, striving to offer the most superior service possible to clients in every transaction. Whether clients are looking to buy or sell starter homes, land, luxury homes, or condos/townhomes, Gloria and her very well-trained and capable assistant will listen attentively and devise creative solutions to meet their needs with skill and ease.
Before finding her calling in real estate, Gloria earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Idaho State University and spent three and a half years teaching English and French to junior high school students. She describes her motivation for making the switch:
I got into teaching because I was passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. I wanted to make a difference in my students' lives by exposing them to the arts. Three and a half years later I wanted to make a difference in some adults’ lives. Real estate seemed challenging and would give me that opportunity.
Today, Gloria continues to enjoy a challenge and brings her passion for education into her career as a successful associate broker, noting, “You can't become better if you aren't willing to learn and grow!” Over the years she has acquired many designations indicating continued training in specialized real estate practices. Included among these are the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®), NAR’s Green Designation (GREEN), and Seniors’ Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®), among others. Reflecting her specialization in all types of residential transactions, she is also a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), the highest credential awarded to residential sales agents, managers, and brokers.
Known as the Gateway to the Northwest, Pocatello is a tight-knit mountain town where outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers have the opportunity to enjoy numerous outdoor activities just minutes from downtown. As an associate broker of Gate City Real Estate and a resident of Pocatello for over forty-five years, Gloria relishes the chance to guide her clients through every step of the real estate process, from deciding whether her town is right for them, to finding the perfect home or property to meet their needs. Additionally, if a client is looking to sell a property, her e-PRO® certification ensures that Gloria has the tech-savvy skills needed to not just list, but also to sell their properties quickly and for high value.
Gloria is an active participant in the Pocatello Rotary Club, where she served as the club's first female president from 2000 to 2001. Gloria’s position of local prominence allows her to stay abreast of developments in her area’s real estate market. She mentioned a few of the major forces currently at play in the market:
The FBI is bringing in 350 new employees, and we don't have enough homes as it is, so inventory is really tight and the prices are being pushed up even further. Of course, when they come in, there will be businesses added to support them, and for a community our size that's a huge difference. Construction of the new Siphon interchange will make our town a lot more accessible. An LDS temple being built up in the Highland area. So, we have a lot of game changers taking place right now, and I think it’s going to be an exciting future.
Whatever changes Pocatello may undergo in the coming years, Gloria is prepared to help her clients meet their real estate goals by providing the same superlative service for which she and her team have become known. With more than four decades of experience in her area’s real estate market and a clear passion for she does, Gloria shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
When she is not busy helping her clients, Gloria enjoys supporting the arts as a former longtime board member of the Idaho State Civic Symphony and advocating for human and animal rights with multiple philanthropic organizations.
Gloria’s husband, Richard Howell, a longtime successful investment broker is very supportive of the same organizations and is her best cheerleader along with their family of spoiled dogs and cats.
