Jason A. Kirkpatrick is a distinguished lawyer based in Woodland Hills, California. With nearly fourteen years of experience, Mr. Kirkpatrick is a leading attorney in the field of civil litigation. He currently is a partner with the law firm Walker & Kirkpatrick where his practice focuses on a wide range of personal injury and insurance matters, including construction defect litigation, pharmacy malpractice, recreational and sports injury cases, molestation cases, foster family liability cases, wrongful death cases, construction accident cases, and catastrophic injury cases.
As he tells it, Mr. Kirkpatrick was inspired to become a lawyer by his father but learned his work ethic from his mother:
My dad has been an attorney for many years and so I was following in his footsteps when I developed my love for the legal field. I always admired the determination he showed to his clients and found the work he did challenging and interesting. My mom has always been an inspiration to me, because she handled a challenging career as a radiologist and ultimately in a management role, along with raising 3 children. It is through her I learned to value the relationships I have with people I have the pleasure of working with, and for helping me realize that you can achieve anything you are willing to work hard for.
Staying true to his family’s legacy, Kirkpatrick enrolled in the University of San Diego School of Law to pursue his Juris Doctor. Since graduating in 2002, he has grown his reputation as one of the top litigators in Southern California. In 2006, he joined forces with fellow attorney John J. Walker, who once served as the Managing Trial Attorney for Nationwide Insurance Company. The two have since cultivated a formidable practice in civil litigation where they each have extensive experience trying cases in all matter of personal injury, construction defect and insurance defense matters including a number of specialty cases like foster family agency matters, malpractice claims, and recreational injury / sexual abuse matters.
As a leader in his industry, Mr. Kirkpatrick is widely respected by his peers. He has received the AV® Preeminent™ Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, reflecting his high ethical standing and commitment to professional excellence. But for all his skill as a litigator in the courtroom, Mr. Kirkpatrick believes that the true key to his success lies in his dedication to clients. He noted:
I value getting to know my clients as well as their specific challenges and desired goals. You really can't understate the value of really getting to know your client and your cases especially in the civil litigation context.
After nearly a decade-and-a-half dedicated to law, Mr. Kirkpatrick envisions a bright future for his practice, his law firm, and his clients. Looking ahead, he hopes to keep developing his knowledge of the legal field with new and challenging cases and maintain the relationships with his clients whose causes have meant so much to him over the years.
For all his preeminence in law, Kirkpatrick reflects on what it takes to be a truly successful lawyer for those who are developing an interest in the legal field:
I think the most important thing about law school is that it teaches you a way to think about problems. My advice to anyone who is going into law school is to work hard, and know that at the end of the day the most important thing they can learn in law school is how to think like a good lawyer. The rules will always change, the law will always change, but knowing how to think like a good lawyer will always be a valuable skill.
