John L. Laudati is an award-winning civil litigation attorney with over thirty-five years of experience. He is a partner at Murphy, Laudati, Kiel, Buttler, & Rattigan, LLC (MLKB&R), a prominent law firm based in Hartford County, Connecticut, that represents individuals, businesses, and families throughout the Farmington Valley. Mr. Laudati specializes in civil litigation, mediation, and arbitration, dealing with a wide variety of personal injury, family, and criminal law matters including collaborative divorce and business estate planning.
As he tells it, Mr. Laudati knew he wanted to be a lawyer from a very young age:
My ninety-year-old mom told us a funny story the other day about me when I was around five years old and she was driving me somewhere. She asked me, ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?’, and I said, ‘I’m either going to be a priest, a lawyer, or a doctor, whichever makes the most money.’
A resident of Granby, Connecticut since 1986, Mr. Laudati attended the University of Connecticut where he received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1977, followed by his law degree in 1981. Upon admission to the Connecticut Bar Association, he went into private practice and has been providing thorough and professional legal representation ever since.
As a highly trained mediator and collaborative family law attorney, Mr. Laudati has a successful reputation for client satisfaction, whether pursuing a reasonable settlement or navigating a trial based resolution. Mr. Laudati has a broad range of experience in his specialty, including his work as Assistant Clerk in the Hartford Superior Court and his representation of high-net-worth clients in civil jury trials before administrative agencies in both state and federal court.
Beyond his practice, Mr. Laudati is also a prominent member of the legal community. He recently lectured for the Hartford County Bar Association on civil procedures and practice throughout the state, and currently serves as President and legal counsel to the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame and sits on the boards of Granby’s Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.
With over three decades dedicated to law behind him, Mr. Laudati is looking forward to slowing down and mentoring the firm’s younger attorneys, guiding them through their challenges so he can ultimately hand off his caseload to them with confidence.
