Justin C. Gearty Jr. is an accomplished attorney based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He is the owner and managing attorney at his own firm, the Law Office of Justin C. Gearty, Jr., which he founded in 2010. Winner of the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 Award, Mr. Gearty has built an impressive reputation in his nine years of law practice, focusing mostly on criminal, family, and personal injury cases.

Before entering the legal profession, Mr. Gearty spent many years working in addiction treatment, including opening a drug and alcohol treatment center. In addition to his responsibilities at the law firm, Mr. Gearty is the majority shareholder, president of the board, and general counsel for his treatment center, Gearty and Skiles Counseling. His experience there inspired him to become a legal champion for the community. He explains:

I really got to see the impact of addiction on the legal system. Considering that many of our clients came in with criminal records, their status had a direct effect on family matters, including child custody and divorce. I’ve always had a little bit of a fascination with medicine, so to practice family law and personal injury law is the best of both worlds.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Gearty went on to get his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg. He opened the Law Office of Justin C. Gearty, Jr. immediately upon earning his law license, and has been capably serving clients ever since. Mr. Gearty’s decision to establish his own practice before working elsewhere was bold, but he says he doesn’t regret it for a second:

My advice to anyone in that position is, don’t be scared. I couldn’t say how many people thought I was crazy. I’m incredibly glad that I was able to figure everything out on my own—that’s the best way to learn the law.

Today, Mr. Gearty’s steadfast dedication to his clients sets him apart from his fellow attorneys. He prides himself on his ability to connect with each client, ensuring that he fully understands their needs, as well as explaining the full extent of their legal options for any given case. Mr. Gearty frequently makes himself available on evenings and weekends in order to manage situations that might occur outside of business hours.

His commitment to the community extends beyond his legal work, and Mr. Gearty spends much of his free time as a youth coach for wrestling and baseball. He also volunteers his time by sitting on the board of directors for a local non-profit company that assists adults with various disabilities.

With his law career off to a promising start, Mr. Gearty promises to continue in his mission to provide top quality legal services at a reasonable rate. Compassionate to the core, Mr. Gearty is the ideal attorney to assist with criminal offenses, complicated divorce and child custody cases, personal injury claims, advising and representing clients in business matters, and most everything in between.
