Laura Harbison has been providing expert real estate guidance to clients throughout the Las Vegas Valley for over thirty years. As one of the top producing brokers for Realty Executives International, Laura primarily focuses on working with sellers of residential properties, though is also well-versed as a buyer’s representative and in commercial real estate. Known for her dedicated client service and extensive market acumen, she has been selected for the Best of Henderson Award in the Residential Real Estate Agent category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA) each year since 2011, among many other honors.
Raised in a military family, Laura was exposed to the hassles and transitions of moving at a young age. But as she tells it, she didn’t discover her passion for real estate until she was attending college at the University of Nevada–Las Vegas:
When I was in college, several of my sorority sisters worked in a real estate office. I was looking for a flexible job that I could work around my classes, and there was an opening, so they suggested I interview, and I got the job. It was an administrative position, so I was working mostly in the office, but by the time I graduated, I had learned a lot about real estate, had obtained my license, and was really enjoying it.
Since beginning her career in real estate, Laura has completed over 6,500 transactions and has consistently ranked as a top agent for total sales volume and homes sold. She was also voted Realtor of the Year for Southern Nevada in 1999 and has been ranked as one of the top 100 agents in the United States by the Wall Street Journal.
Today, Laura leads a full-service team of real estate professionals dedicated to meeting their clients’ needs every step of the way. Maintaining close ties with lenders, title and escrow officers, insurance agencies, and others industry professionals in the Las Vegas Valley, Laura and her team are able to provide top-tier service to every person that walks through their doors, whether they are new to the market or an experienced investor.
Laura bolsters this unmatched service with in-depth market knowledge and extensive training in her field. Throughout her career, she has earned a long list of designations and certifications, including as a Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE) and a Resort & Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS), giving her broad-ranging expertise in nearly all facets of buying and selling real estate. Holding a bachelor’s degree in management sciences and quantitative methods, Laura outfits her clients with the most accurate analyses of their own properties as well as market trends more generally.
Commenting on a particular trend, Laura notes that as the NFL’s Raiders move to Las Vegas from Oakland, the area currently has unseasonably low inventory which is putting upward pressure on prices:
We have a lot going on in this area with the Raiders moving here. They’re getting ready to build the practice facility as well as their stadium. That’s bringing a lot of jobs and a lot of attention to the area, which might be one of the reasons why things are getting snatched up so quickly. I also believe that many potential home sellers are in a holding pattern right now to see how exactly it’s going to affect the economy before making a decision about selling their property.
Beyond her career in real estate, Laura is an active member of her community. She is involved with numerous nonprofits—including the American Heart Association, Nevada Childseekers, and the Interfaith Hospitality Network—and is also a member of both the Las Vegas and Henderson Chambers of Commerce, among other organizations. Additionally, Laura is the founder of the A Touch of Home project, which is dedicated to donating holiday gifts and basic necessities to homeless children throughout Southern Nevada.
