After earning her M.B.A. from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai in 1996, Manu moved to the United States, where she had a successful career in advertising and sales for a decade, as well as starting a burgeoning baking business. As a serial entrepreneur and a true people person, real estate came naturally to Manu:
I thrive under pressure, working to make deadlines. I love interfacing with clients, and when my daughter started kindergarten I met a dad in her class who was a prominent Realtor. He suggested I shadow him, just to see what it was like, and I absolutely loved it. My first year, I did six or seven transactions—in Silicon Valley, most Realtors in their first year only do one.
