Attorney Mark Caraway is a shareholder of Wise Carter Child & Caraway, Attorneys at Law, in Jackson, Mississippi. With thirty-three years of experience, he focuses his practice on the defense side of civil litigation, including professional malpractice and personal injury. Mr. Caraway is AV® Preeminent™ rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and has been selected as a “Leader in Law” by the Mississippi Business Journal.
Mr. Caraway comes from a family of attorneys, and as he tells it, being a lawyer himself felt like a natural choice:
My father was an attorney. He was very successful and he loved his profession. It seemed to be a good fit for what I was good at too. My dad never pressured me to become an attorney, but it was definitely the right choice for me.
With a career in law to motivate him, Mr. Caraway graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 1981. He stayed at the University of Mississippi to pursue his Juris Doctor, which he obtained in 1985, cum laude.
Today at Wise Carter Child & Caraway, Mr. Caraway maintains the commitment to excellence that propelled him to success in both undergraduate and law school. Widely regarded as an authority in professional malpractice and personal injury, Mr. Caraway credits his success to decades of experience, studied legal acumen, and a strong belief in the processes that govern our justice system: “I’m a big believer in the system,” he explains, “and one of my goals is to make sure it’s working fairly for everyone.”
Mr. Caraway has been listed in The Best Lawyers of America and has been a Top Rated Lawyer in Medical Malpractice. He is an active member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is a regular speaker at professional seminars. This prominence in his field allows Mr. Caraway to observe trends and changes as they occur in his areas of specialty. Lately, he notes, changes to HIPAA have caught his attention:
I try to keep up with anything the Supreme Court does, and assess the common law in the state—that’s really important. And of course, HIPAA has been a big deal to all attorneys who do anything that’s closely related to personal injury.
In the coming years, Mr. Caraways plans to maintain his reputation as a lawyer who clients can trust with their most sensitive legal needs, adding, “my main goal is always to do the best for my clients, and to get good results for them.”
