Sheila Splitt is a distinguished REALTOR® based in Merced, California. Now working with Century 21 M&M and Associates, Sheila has been serving clients in the San Joaquin Valley for the past seventeen years. Known for her industry-leading customer service, she was named the "Woman of the Year" by National Association of Professional Women in 2012 and was inducted into the Centurion Honor Society in 2011 for consistent high sales volume, among many other honors. Sheila was also featured in Broker Agent Magazine in 2005.
Though now widely regarded as a top agent in her market, Sheila started her professional life down an entirely different path. Before becoming a real estate agent, she had a thriving career in insurance. Looking back, she recalls the events that caused her to change gears:
I worked for Farmers Insurance for twenty-four years, and the last eleven of those years I worked in their credit union. When the company relocated their regional office to Pleasanton, the commute was too far, so I decided to look for new opportunities in the Merced area. My work in the credit union was heavily based on customer service and sales, and I had always been interested in real estate, so becoming a Realtor was a natural next step for me.
Despite entering the industry in the midst of a down market, Sheila found swift success in her new career, selling her first house by the end of her first month as a real estate and earning Century 21’s Emerald Award by the end of her first year. In the years since, she has become one of the go-to sources for buyers and sellers of real estate in Merced, Le Grand, Modesto, Atwater, and other nearby towns in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Today, much of her clientele comes via referral while she maintains a five-star rating on both Zillow and Trulia.
Though she serves clients on either side of a transaction, Sheila has a particular specialization in listings. As an SFR®, she has abundant experience in short sales, foreclosures, and the sale REO properties. Sheila also works with clients across a broad range of prices and is known in her area as an expert negotiator.
As a top producing agent in her market, Sheila is highly attuned to trends and changes in San Joaquin real estate. Commenting on what she is currently noticing, she said:
It's been a very healthy seller's market for the last few years, so that's been my primary focus. But I always help my buyers as well. As prices peak and interest rates rise, it's going to go back to a buyer's market, so I need to keep those skills sharp.
Regardless of future market conditions, Sheila looks forward to continuing her career for many more years to come. “I plan to be working for a long time,” she notes. “I really enjoy my job, I love meeting people, and I love helping them achieve their real estate goals.”
Outside of work, Sheila is a dedicated mother of three children, Shawn, Shelly, and Samantha, a loving wife to her husband, Don, and a grandmother. She also participates in the Relay For Life cancer walk and donates to the MPS Foundation.
