Stuart J. Freeman is a distinguished Florida trial attorney and a partner of the St. Petersburg-based law firm Freeman, Goldis & Cash, P.A. With over forty years of experience, Mr. Freeman has been Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar since 1992 and as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) since 1994. An AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell®, his practice focuses on defending insurance companies and individuals in cases relating to personal injury, product liability, premises liability, and construction defect, as well as coverage and bad faith.
Since earning his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1977, Mr. Freeman has established himself as one of the top civil trial lawyers in the state of Florida. Known as a fierce litigator and tenacious client advocate, he has earned recognition from prestigious organizations such as Super Lawyers® and the Lawyers of Distinction.
Looking back, Mr. Freeman recalls that he first discovered his interest in law after studying political science at Penn State. Mr. Freeman began his career practicing as an Assistant Public Defender in St. Petersburg, Florida, during which time he tried over fifty felony jury trials. He later joined Nationwide Insurance Company as Staff Counsel where he served clients in the Tampa Bay Area. Between these two positions, Mr. Freeman cultivated a broad background in defense litigation as well as in legal matters that affect insurance companies.
In 1983, Mr. Freeman joined his current firm where he has since been able to leverage his extensive trial experience to successfully represent clients in both State and Federal Courts. Over the course of his practice, he has handled a wide variety of cases, including serious personal injury and wrongful death, premises liability, construction defects involving multi-million dollar projects, insurance coverage, bad faith, toxic torts including silica and asbestos, condominium liability, and products liability cases.
As a leader in his field, Mr. Freeman is a highly influential figure in the legal community and enjoys using his knowledge to help others and advance the interests of his clients. From 2007 to 2014, he was a member of the adjunct faculty at his alma mater where he taught Trial Advocacy. He and his firm members are also members of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), a nonpartisan alliance of law firms, insurance companies, and corporations whose goals include the promotion and furthering of the highest standards of litigation management in pursuit of client defense.
After more than four decades dedicated to law, Mr. Freeman remains a dominating force in law and an effective advocate for his clients. In 2017, he was awarded lifetime membership by America's Top 100 Attorneys, recognizing his past and continuing achievements.
